A nice crowd was on hand Tuesday night as the Alliance volleyball hosted Mitchell in a homecoming match up. And the Lady Bulldogs didn’t disappoint the fans. Alliance swept the Tigers 25 17 25 14 25 17 for their eighth win on the season. Mitchell won the JV affair earlier in the day by scores of 26 24 25 20 15 10. In the first game, it was the Alliance reserve squad getting the victory in 2 sets 25 13 25 23. Ten points by Bulldog Paz Cody led the offense in the varsity battle while Addison Weber added 9 points. Both Weber and Kaiah Adams finished the evening with 6 kills apiece.
Set one had the Bulldogs get off to a fast start. Four points by Ryli Poss keyed an early spree. Weber then went to the serve line and ran off 6 in a row that put the score at 11 to 2 in favor of the hosts. During the spree, Weber had a pair of ace serves. Good contributions from Cody, Olivia Krejci, Adams, and Poss midway through the opener kept AHS out in the lead. A kill by Alexis Libsack along with another ace serve by Weber made it a 21 to 12 Alliance advantage. The set came to a finish with a kill by Krejci and an Alliance win 25 to 17.
Action was closer early in set 2. Early tallies by Weber gave the hosts an early 4 to 2 cushion. Mitchell battled back as the set was tied at 8, 10, and 11. Two points by Poss then gave the Lady Bulldogs the lead at 14 to 11. Following a kill by Adams, Cody scored 5 points in a row as Alliance went up 21 to 13. Set #2 ended with the Bulldogs getting points and kills from Adams and Poss. Final Alliance 25 to 14.
A big scoring run in set 3 powered the Dogs to victory. It was led by Ahrianna Galvan who tallied 5 points in the third. Early points and kills by Cody, Adams, and Poss helped Alliance surge ahead 11 to 7. Galvan then went to the line and scored 5 straight that put the Dogs in control at 16 to 7. Kills by Weber and Libsack led the charge. The margin would then go to 19 to 9 thanks to plays by Adams and Weber. A pair of Cody points ensued as AHS got close at 22 to 11. Alliance then finished off Mitchell with a kill by Adams. Set 3 went to the Dogs 25 to 17.
