Perennial volleyball powerhouse Omaha Skutt met Alliance on Thursday in Grand Island in the Class B district 3 tournament. It was a semifinal contest which had the Bulldogs fall in three sets 25 11 25 13 and 25 13. Alliance finishes their season with a 10 and 25 record. The Dogs advanced to the ball game with a straight set victory on Tuesday versus Schuyler but ran into a real juggernaut in the Sky Hawks. Leading the offense for AHS was Addison Weber who recorded 8 kills while fellow senior Kaiah Adams had 4 kills. Top scorer was Ryli Poss who tallied 5 points.
An 8 to 1 run by Skutt midway through the opening set gave the Hawks an early lead. Alliance got early kills by Weber and Adams to stay in the hunt. Tied at 3, the Hawks surged ahead. A point by Adams stopped the spree as the Dogs closed the gap at 14 to 6. Poss then had an ace block which made the score 19 to 9. It was as close as Alliance would get. Another Weber kill followed but the set came to a close with Skutt getting the win 25 to 11.
Two quick Poss points helped Alliance gain the advantage early in the second. Weber had a kill during the spree. Just as they did in the first, the Hawks put together another run. Skutt scored 10 of the game’s next 11 points to move ahead 10 to 3. A kill by Weber and 2 points by the Bulldog senior sliced the Alliance deficit to 10 to 6. AHS stayed close with kills by Adams and Alexis Libsack and a point by Olivia Krejci to make it a 15 to 9 affair. Skutt countered with strong net play to slowly gain control. Alliance would get another ace spike by Weber and a point by Poss down the stretch but wasn’t enough. The Sky Hawks took set #2 25 to 13.
Weber began the third with another kill. It was followed by an 8 to 1 Skutt spree as the Dogs trailed 8 to 2. Kills by Adams and Weber ensued that kept the Bulldogs in striking distance at 8 to 4. The teams then traded points with Alliance getting strong efforts from Adams, Krejci, and Weber . Krejci would tally 3 points midway through the set. Another ace spike by Weber pulled Alliance to within 2 at 13 to 11. Omaha answered with one final push. The Hawks took a 21 to 12 advantage before another kill by Adams. Skutt tallied the final 4 points and won the set 25 to 13.

Alliance will definitely miss their three senior leaders in Libsack, Weber, and Adams. The Dogs do return a nice mix of under classmates so hopes will be high in 2026.
