December 7, 2025. A day that will live in – not infamy, but the end of an incredible run.
Houston Texans 20, Kansas City Chiefs 10.
The Chiefs were gently knocking on the door to win its tenth consecutive AFC West title. The Texans refused to answer the door.
My Chiefs season record slipped to six wins and seven losses.
The Denver Broncos are now eleven and two. With four games remaining in the regular season, there is no way the Chiefs can catch the Broncos.
Congratulations to the Broncos. It appears they will win their first AFC West Championship since 2015.
Congratulations to the Chiefs. What an incredible run.
Last week, I wrote about negotiating with the sports gods.
I did so again on Sunday. I told the gods that I would trade a Chiefs loss to the Texans if the Nebraska men’s basketball team would beat Creighton in Lincoln Sunday afternoon.
The Huskers smoked the Jays, 71-50. NU led by as many as 23 points. Nebraska is Big 10 ready. Their conference season begins tonight when NU hosts Wisconsin. Tipoff is set for 7 pm MST. The game will be shown on the Big 10 Network.
How about the NU women’s basketball team?!? The Huskers hammered Penn State, 101-83, in Happy Valley.
Nebraska volleyball remains unbeaten with an incredible record of 32-0 after defeating Long Island and Kansas State this past weekend.
The Kansas Jayhawks are the next test for NU. This weekend’s matches will again be held at the Devaney Center.
First serve for NU is scheduled for approximately 7:30 pm MST and will be shown on ESPN 2. If NU prevails, they will play either Louisville or Texas A&M on Saturday.
The winner of Saturday’s game advances to the semifinals in Kansas City.
As I mentioned last week, I do not negotiate Husker volleyball with the sports gods. I asked Santa to deliver the national title trophy to Lincoln on December 21.
NU needs four more victories to claim the national title.
Will Santa deliver?
