Edna Mae Schieber-Covalt, 90, of Scottsbluff, passed quietly on January 5, 2026, in Scottsbluff, Ne. There will be a celebration of life at the Angora Community Center on January 24, 2026, from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Please no flowers. Memorials may be sent to the Broadwater Fire Department. Born north of Alliance, Nebraska April 30, 1935, to Christopher and Minnie Ackerman of Alliance. Edna graduated from Alliance High School in 1953.
She married Dwayne (Dutch) K. Schieber in 1954. Two children were born to this union, Dale Schieber and Patty Schramm.
Edna worked as a laborer and care giver in the Scotts bluff/Gering area for many years.
Dutch passed in August of 1964. She then remained single until she met the love of her life John Covalt. On February 14, 2000, they were married in Valentine, Nebraska. They resided on the Covalt Ranch north of Broadwater together, until John went to the Bridgeport nursing home in 2024. John passed away March 1, 2025.
Edna was preceded in death by, her mother Minne, father Christopher, brothers Harold, Dwayne, Leon and Billie Ackerman, in-laws Myrtle and Carl Schieber and Bert Baxter, also by Johns parents Lewis and Catherine Covalt, along with grandson Joseph Zeiler.
She is survived by her son Dale Schieber (Sherry Fibelstad) of Gering Ne, daughter Patty (Jim) Schramm of Hay Springs Ne, special near daughter Carol Siefers, three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
