Indians Remain Perfect With Win Over Dogs

Undefeated and highly ranked Ogallala came to town on Friday for action against Alliance in boy’s basketball play. Big scoring outbursts in the second and fourth quarters powered the guests past the Bulldogs 85 to 45. OG put 25 points on the board in the second and added 26 more in the fourth in getting the victory. With the loss, Alliance now has a 7 and 8 record. Two Dogs ended the game in double figures with Espen Lanik scoring 16 and Braeden Clarke tallying 10. AHS did get the win in the JV game 56 to 50 thanks to late seconds free throws from Tray Best and Creighton Fritzler. The visiting Indians led 45 to 22 at half and controlled the play throughout the second half.

A free throw by Lanik gave the Dogs their only lead at 1 to 0 to start the action. Ogallala came back with a 8 to 0 run thanks to a 2 and two three pointers. Alliance responded with a 6 to 0 spurt thanks to baskets by Jaden Guerra, Clarke, and Lanik. The first came to a finish with a 9 to 2 spree by the visitors. AHS would get a hoop by Devin Graham and trailed 20 to 9 heading to the second.

OG’s offense was high gear in the second. The guests would outscore the Bulldogs 25 to 13 in extending its margin. Fourteen consecutive tallies by the Indians is how the period began as the Alliance deficit grew to 25 at 34 to 9. A deuce by Graham was followed by a trey by Fritzler ensued but back to back 3 pointers by OG kept the Dogs down.

Scoring closed for AHS with 6 tallies by Lanik and a bucket by Clarke.

At half, Ogallala was up 45 to 22.

Action was even in the third with Alliance scoring 15 and OG netting 14. Any thoughts of an Alliance rally were quickly put down as the Indians scored 9 in a row to go up by 32. The squads then traded blows with the Dogs getting tallies from Devonte Taylor, Lanik, and Clarke. Lanik would score 7 straight points to lead the Alliance O. The period came to a finish with a 2 pointer by Nason Thompson and AHS down 59 to 37.

Ogallala kept up their fine shooting in fourth. The visitors scored 11 consecutive tallies to increase their lead to 70 to 37. Back to back buckets by Lexton Salcido and Clarke followed for the Bulldogs. Later in the quarter with AHS down 83 to 41, Alliance got a three pointer by Tanner Salcido. A free throw by Taylor ended the scoring for the hosts.
