Crusaders Take Down Eagles 44 to 13

St. Agnes hosted the Eagles of Community Christian on Monday for one reserve match up. A big spree in the second period paved the way for an Academy win 44 to 13 With the victory, the Crusaders improved to three and one for the year. Alliance put 8 players in scoring column, led by Liam Pena who finished with 14 points. SA was only up by 2 after the first but would outscored the Eagles 19 to 1 in the second quarter in picking up the W.

Early scores by Pena, James Benzel, and Tristin Hansen carried the Academy to a 6 point lead. Community Christian then rallied, going on an 6 to 2 spurt to close the period down by 2. Alliance got a Jaden Estevane-Acosta bucket for their score during the spree. After one, SA was up 8 to 6.

Six Estevane-Acosta tallies in the second increased the Academy advantage. Fifteen straight Crusader points as how the second started as the Crusaders built a 23 to 6 lead. During the run, Alliance got tallies by Hansen, Pena, Declan Kirchner, and Estevane-Acosta in building a double digit cushion. A free throw by the Eagles stopped the spree but the half close with the Crusaders getting hoops by Max Bailey and Estevane-Acosta. Alliance took a 27 to 7 lead to halftime.

Another big run by the Academy to start the third denied a CC comeback. Alliance put 15 in a row in the book to extend their margin. Scoring third period points for the Academy were: Hansen, Kirchner, Pena, Jackson Chasek, and Bailey. The period came to an end with a deuce by the guests and the Academy ahead 42 to 9.

In the fourth, Alliance would just get a Gavin Mahoney bucket while the Eagles put four tallies into the column. Final Crusaders 44 Eagles 13
