All the stars were out Sunday afternoon at the Holy Rosary Parish Center as St. Agnes ended Catholic Schools Week with the playing of the elementary basketball tournament. 32 future all stars took part in the event. The games mark the 32 year in a row that SA has had the event. And when the smoke cleared it was the Purple Cheetahs winning for the girls and the Orange Ponies taking first for the boys. Both championship contests were thrillers with the Cheetahs beating the Red Crusaders and the Ponies outlasting the White Eagles.
Team members for the Purple Cheetahs were: Parker Brown, Penelope Foster, Karsyn Rasmussen and Kensley Ravert. Their coach was Jamisyn Rasmussen. Team members for the Red Crusaders were: Phoebe Wilcox, Whitley Shrewsbury, Quinn Walls, Harley Gillespie, and Jessee Foster. Coaching the Crusaders was Sidda Wilcox.
Other girl’s teams were the Blue Dolphins and White Foxes. Team members for the Dolphins were: Mia Shelmadine, Breleigh Hicks, Penelope Baker, Natalie Dudden, and Blake Brown. Their coaches were Alexis Shelmadine and Audrey Dudden. Team members for the Foxes were: Emma Hicks, Paisley Gumm, Catherine Wimmer, Savannah Walker, and Charlie Schulze. Their coach was Parker Gumm.
Team members for the Orange Ponies: Canton Devlin, Bodhi Manion, and Liam Hansen. Their coaches were: Mason Conyers, Tatum Devlin, Jackson Chasek, James Benzel, Tristin Hansen, Parker Gumm, and Emerson Trumble. Team members for the Eagles were: Wyatt Grosse-Rhode, Asher Herian, Carter Weber and Ben Underwood. Their coach was Tanner Gillespie.
Other boy’s teams were the Red Huskers and the Black Sharks. Members of the Huskers were: Jack Underwood, Josh Benzel, and Oliver Omar. Their coaches were: Tee Johnson, Ashton Weingart, and Declan Kirchner. Team members for the Sharks: Jack Burke, Kamdyn Brown, and Grady Mulhern. Their coaches were: McKenzie Conyers, Mila Brown, Veronica Benzel, and Raegen Mulhern.
The tourney was the conclusion of a three week basketball clinic put on by St. Agnes teacher Mark Glesinger. I would like to thank all the parents for bringing in their youngsters, all the kids who participated, and all the older kids who helped with the practices and helped with the tournament.
