Alliance Boys Wrestling Looking for District Title

Head Boys Wrestling Coach for Alliance High School Willie Schwartzkopf is hungry for a district title this season, and is pleased with what he sees in the squad so far.

“The hope is really we need to get district title back home here,” said Schwartzkopf. “Qualify for the state duels, qualify the whole team. Our expectations are really high, set the bar really high. So it’s my first year here. So we are changing the culture back to that hard work, hope to get these guys a lot better.

“Mainly is everybody in the right weight class,” Schwartzkopf said. “We got a bunch of guys kind of weighing the same right now and getting everybody past the hydration test and then where they ran is going to be the most difficult the whole season.”

He hopes the athletes give it their all this season, putting in the hard work and effort. He hopes to draw on the strength of having four state qualifiers return this season.

“We returned four qualifiers,” said Schwartzkopf. “I think that will be the strength for us. We’re super young, we have one senior, all those guys that are returning are Sophomores and Juniors. We’ve got two returning medalists. I think our toughest is those guys. We’re going to count on those guys all the way.”
