High Scoring Hawks Conquer Crusaders

Double digit scoring in every quarter helped Hay Springs down St Agnes 54 to 31 in JV action on Tuesday. Period #3 was big for the Hawks as Hay Springs outscored the Academy 19 to 7. The contest was played in Alliance. St Agnes also fell in the second game of the night. Leading scorers in the first ball game were Ashton Weingart and Liam Pena who scored eight points each. Tristin Hansen had 4 tallies in the late affair.

Two Pena buckets in the first quarter led the Crusaders. St Agnes also got free throws by Weingart and Jackson Chasek to stay in the contest. The guests also were strong in the period, hitting a couple of threes. After one period of play, the Academy was behind 11 to 6. In the second, the teams traded treys to start the scoring. Another 2 by Pena plus a three pointer by Weingart would ensue. The Hawks ended the half with a hoop and led 23 to 16.

Hay Springs put the contest away in the third. The visitors tallied 19 points to extend their margin. Another 3 by Weingart was the Alliance highlight. Heading to the fourth, SA was down 42 to 23. Early tallies by Pena and Chasek is how the scoring began for Alliance in the fourth. Later, the Academy got a 2 by Declan Kirchner and a free throw by Weingart. Hay Springs’ offense continued to click in the stanza, scoring 12 more points.

The second game was a 2 period matchup. Hay Springs got the victory 30 to 5. Hansen had 4 for the Academy with Jaden Estevane-Acosta adding one.
