Game three in Gering for the Alliance Spuds was Saturday. Their opponent was the Legacy Wild Dawgs. Down early, Alliance rallied to win the contest 14 to 8. It was their sixth W on the year. Five Spuds concluded with 2 hits apiece. They were: Jack Sautter, Jensen Freiberger, Tyce Johnson, Jack Freiberger, and Luke Clarke. On the hill was starter Grady Mracek and relievers Nikki Escamilla and Leo Hager. Alliance put sixth tallies in the score column in the second to get the win.
Wild Dawgs were up first and scored 6 times. In the home half, the Spuds cut their deficit to 2 with a 4 spot. Knocks from Johnson, Landon Hickman, and Jack Freiberger began the comeback. RBIs hits followed from Hager and Mracek to make it 6 to 4. Legacy scored once in the second to go up by 3. Alliance’s bats stayed hot in the last of the frame. The Spuds scored 6 to surge ahead 10 to 7. Escamilla walked and later stole home. Hits from Sautter and Johnson kept the rally alive. RBI groundouts by Hickman and Hager along with successful swings by Jack Freiberger and Clarke gave Alliance a 9 to 7 advantage. The frame came to a close with a double by Jensen Freiberger and an RBI stroke by Ridge Toedtli. With 2 in the books, Alliance led 10 to 7.
After a scoreless top of the third by the Dawgs, the Alliance O went back to work with 4 more tallies. An RBI knock by Sautter plated Escamilla who walked. After Johnson was hit by a pitch, a 2 run misplay by the Wild Dawgs made it 13 to 7. Inning #3 finished with a Clarke double and an RBI groundout by Jack Freiberger.
