Alliance Police Department Continues Commitment to Training and Professional Development

This week, all sworn members of the Alliance Police Department participated in firearms training and qualification on all issued handguns, patrol rifles, and shotguns.

The department is proud of its training program and the expertise provided by its two in-house firearms instructors, Sergeant Dahlberg and Lieutenant Peterson, who help ensure officers maintain a high level of proficiency and preparedness.

Over the past two years, the Alliance Police Department has placed a greater emphasis on hands-on, in-person training opportunities rather than relying primarily on online coursework. Officers have participated in specialized training in areas including active shooter response, tactical medical care, crisis intervention, interview and interrogation techniques, supervisory and leadership development, and officer wellness.

“Training is a continuous investment in both our officers and our community,” said Chief David Leavitt. “The citizens of Alliance deserve highly trained professionals who are prepared to respond effectively, make sound decisions under pressure, and provide the highest level of service possible.”

The Alliance Police Department remains committed to continuous improvement, professional excellence, and maintaining the skills necessary to keep the community safe.
