Fort Morgan Tourneys Ends for Juniors with Loss to Eagles

Action came to a close in the Fort Morgan tournament for the Peltz Co Juniors with a game against Wellington. Alliance had an early lead but eventually fell to the Eagles 8 to 2 on Saturday. With the loss, the Spartans now have a 12 and 9 record. Offensively, the Juniors could muster 2 hits and finished the tourney 1 and 3. Pitching for the Spartans was starter Israel Garcia and reliever Carson Stull.

Alliance was the home team on the board and held the Eagles scoreless in the top of the first. In the home half, the Peltz Co plated 2. Jackson Shelmadine was hit by a pitch to start the scoring. Errors on batted balls by Garcia and Miguel Galvan made it 2 to 0 in favor of the Spartans after one inning of action.

Wellington knotted the game with 2 in the top of the second with Garcia getting one strikeout. Fletcher Moseman singled in the bottom of the frame but didn’t score. Inning #3 momentum went to the Eagles. Wellington scored 4 times while the Spartans went silently. All zeroes in the fourth and the battle went to the fifth with Alliance down 6 to 2.

Two tallies in frame 5 gave the Eagles a comfortable cushion. Down 8 to 2 in the bottom of the 5th, the Peltz Co bats were cold. Stull ended the ball game with a scoreless sixth on the mound for the Juniors, keeping the Spartan deficit at 6. A Logan Freiberger hit in the bottom of the finale was the lone highlight for the Juniors . Final
