Escamilla’s Double Gives Seniors Walk Off Win Over Chadron

Excitement was in the air on Tuesday with Alliance hosting Chadron. Spartan Tony Escamilla doubled with 2 on and 2 outs in the bottom of the final frame as the Seniors rallied to down Post 12 8 to 7. Chadron led by 1 going to the bottom of the 7th and had 2 outs before the walk off swing. Braeden Clarke had 2 hits to lead the Peltz Co offense. Overall, the Spartans closed with 7 knocks. Starting the contest was Espen Lanik who pitched into the fifth. Kegan Rodriguez and Lexton Salcido also tossed for the Seniors.

Two Ks by Lanik in the first got the hosts off to a strong start. Lanik then singled in the last of the frame. He scored the Spartan’s first tally after an RBI walk by Carver Nemnich. Post 12 went scoreless in the top of the second while 3 Alliance scores made it 4 to 0. Knocks by Clarke and Jaxon Poss gave the Peltz Co an opportunity. A sacrifice fly by Lanik, a Chadron error, and a steal of home put the guest’s deficit at 4 heading to the third inning of action.

Both teams failed to score in innings three and four. Alliance got a 4th frame hit by Jaxson Esparza but no runs. Post 12 came alive in the top of inning #5 with 6 scores. Clarke had a hit in the last of the inning. He was left on the bases and the contest went to the sixth with the Peltz Co trailing 6 to 4.

PVC failed to score in the top of the sixth. In the home half, the Seniors got 2. Lanik walked and moved into scoring position after a hit by Kobe Strom. Two miscues by the visitors plated both runners as the Spartans knotted the affair at 6 going to the last inning. Chadron retook the advantage with one in the top of the 7th, setting the stage for the walk off. Rodriguez and Lanik walk bringing up Escamilla who double in the gap giving the Peltz Co a thrilling 8 to 7 victory.
