Alliance hosted a Tri on Wednesday with games against Chadron and Sidney. Game 1 had the Seniors downing Chadron 8 to 3. With the victory, the Peltz Co improves to 32 and 11 for the year. Nason Thompson led the offense with 2 of their 5 hits. On the hill, Thompson went the first 2 plus frames before he was relieved by Tony Escamilla who tossed the final 4.1 innings. Alliance was down 2 to 0 heading to the bottom of the fifth before scoring 3 to go ahead. The Seniors then added 5 more in the sixth in posting the W.
An Alliance double play in the top of the first kept PVC off the board. In the home half, the Peltz Co got hits from Thompson and Escamilla but no runs. Frames 2-3-4 were also scoreless one for both clubs. Spartan catcher Mike Johnson threw out a Chadron runner trying to steal in the top of the 4th to deny a Post 12 rally. Heading to the fifth, the contest was tied at 0.
Both squads had success in the fifth. The guests plated 2 to take the lead. Alliance countered with a 3 spot in the bottom of the frame. The Spartans loaded the bags after walks to Kegan Rodriguez and Lexton Salcido while Kobe Strom reached after being hit by a pitch. Up next was Espen Lanik who doubled to knot the battle at 2. Alliance’s final tally came after a sacrifice fly by Jaxson Esparza. After 5 complete, the Peltz Co was up 3 to 2.
PVC failed to score in the top of the sixth while Alliance tallied 5 to add to their advantage. Again the Spartans loaded the bases after walks to Carver Nemnich and Strom and Rodriguez reaching on an error by the visitors. A 2 RBI hit by Johnson then made it 5 to 2. Esparza extended the lead to 4 after another sac fly. The scoring closed with a 2 RBI double by Thompson. Chadron would push one across in their last at bat to end the contest. Final.
