Two Accidents Send Three to BBGH

Two recent accidents have resulted in three people being sent to Box Butte General Hospital to be treated for injuries.

The first accident occurred on Nov. 30. According to Sergeant Cody Buskirk with the Alliance Police Department, APD officers responded to the report of a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Sweetwater Avenue and Fifth Street.

The accident involved a Buick Envision driven by 67 year-old Maurine Roller and a Nissan Sentra driven by 19-year old Elijah Harris. Buskirk said Roller was transported to BBGH to be treated for injuries, and that both vehicles were totaled in the wreck. He noted that seat belts were in use, and that no citations were issued.

The second wreck occurred on Dec. 5 near the intersection of Emerson Avenue and Third Street. Buskirk said that APD officers responded to the report of the accident just after 5 p.m. A 2002 Ford Explorer, driven by Rebecca Martinez, collided with the rear end of a 1999 Chevrolet pickup driven by Tammy Schafer, Buskirk said.

Schafer and a juvenile passenger in the Ford Explorer were transported to BBGH to be treated for injuries, Buskirk said. He noted that not everyone involved in the wreck was wearing a seat belt, and that no citations have been issued.
