Helen Young, 94 of Alliance, Nebraska passed away on February 12, 2021 at Highland Park Care Center. She was born to Thomas and Nell Patton on July 25, 1926. She was the youngest of 7 siblings. Helen grew up in the Sandhills around Ellsworth.
She married Walter Young on January 1, 1943. They were married 75 years when Walter passed away. They lived south of Bingham on a ranch until 1979. They then retired and moved to Alliance, Nebraska.
Helen enjoyed her family. She cherished her children. She enjoyed her flowers and gardening, spending time with family and playing cards. Her nieces and nephews were special to her.
She is survived by a son, Gale (Lynda) Young of Torrington, Wyoming, two grandchildren: Michelle (Dan) Okamoto of Kearney, Nebraska and Galen (Laralee) Young of Alliance, Nebraska; two step grandchildren: Dawn (John) Nordin of Camano Island, Washington and Bill (Yvonne) Bargeron of Worland, Wyoming; and 6 great grandsons: Dalton and Dillon Okamoto; step-great grandsons: Kyle and Derrick Coleman and Logan and Magnus Nordin as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband Walter, her daughter Connie and her brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Helen will be held at 10:30, February 19, 2021 at Bates Gould Chapel in Alliance, Nebraska. The Rev. Gary Belk will officiate with burial in Alliance Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
