Hello everyone, in March I applied for the Lamb Challenge Program again that I participated in last year.
This is where you send in an application and an essay, then a committee picks individuals for the program. You are assigned a sponsor you bought your lamb, throughout your six months in the program you write updated letters to your sponsor every month, keep a record of all the feeds, at the end of the six months you show at the Aksarben Stock Show.
The stock show is the last weekend in September, you show in a separate lamb class with all the Lamb Challenge participants. This past weekend we picked up our lambs at Burch Livestock who donated the 26 lambs to all of the applicants, it was an awesome experience to have a tour on the farm, meet with people from several different states.
Being in this program last year expanded my knowledge of the lamb industry and I am very fortunate to be back for year number two!
