Diana L. Heupel, 57, peacefully passed from this life into the loving arms of our Lord, Sunday, May 30, 2021, surrounded by her family, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Diana was born on December 1, 1963 to Glen and Dorothy (Smith) Sherbon in Deadwood, South Dakota. She graduated in 1982 from Lead High School and from Rapid City School of Practical Nursing in 1983. She began her career as an assistant school nurse and home manager at Black Hills Special Services in Deadwood.
Diana and Lennie Heupel were married on September 1, 1984. Together, they moved to Alliance in 1996 with their three children where Diana served as an LPN for over 20 years. She loved helping others. Whether it was befriending a total stranger or reaching out to people who were experiencing hard times, Diana always made a friend wherever she went.
Diana is survived by her mother, Dorothy Sherbon of Alliance, and children Jenn (Chad) Kleewein of North Platte and their children Cray and Tage; Ryan (Kelsey) Heupel of Alliance and their children Tierney and Teryn; Trevor (Ashley) Heupel of Alliance and their daughter Lennon; her two brothers, Mike Sherbon of Salem, Oregon and Ron Sherbon of Spearfish, South Dakota. Diana was preceded in death by her father, Glen Sherbon, her brother Dennis Sherbon, and Lennie Heupel.
Diana’s Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 4, 2021 at the Alliance Eagles Club from 5:00pm-8:00pm. Dinner will be served at 5:30pm. Her family requests special memories and pictures be sent to dianaheupelmemorial@gmail.com.
Because Diana was very passionate about helping people, her family requests memorial donations in lieu of flowers.
