The Heart of Mankind

There is interesting Scripture about the heart of mankind. Heart, as mentioned, indicates the thoughts, intents and concepts. Listen to God in the Bible from Proverbs 21:2, “every way of man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the heart. Jeremiah 17:10 says, “I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to the conduct, according to what his deeds deserve.” And, Hebrews 4:12 tells us, “The word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” An unbelieving (in Jesus) heart can become a believing heart and a believing heart can leave that belief. It is for us to keep our focus on Jesus. Much of the letter to the Hebrew Christians fits how we must care for our heart condition in Christ. From Hebrews, chapter 3, we have these considerations: Keep encouraging each other. It’s good to quietly lift each other up in their faith. It’s good to stand beside another when it seems sin is winning, so we can encourage them to trust in God. Hold on to the original confidence and excitement as a Christian. As time passes we as Christians are tempted to choose and easy path in witnessing. In Hebrews 3:15-19, read the history of the Jewish nation as they left Egypt. Learn from their wins and losses with the Lord. The heart of a person can be deceptive, or it can be faithful to our Creator. Let’s be faithful in watching our heart with diligence so we can win.
