Thomas John Rodak obituary

Thomas John Rodak, age 70, of Bridgeport, passed away in the comfort of his home in Bridgeport, NE on March 9, 2022. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Tom’s name to the Bridgeport Bombers Baseball, PO Box 190, Bridgeport, NE 69336.

Tom was the second-born to Michael and Irene (Hryvko) Rodak on January 18, 1952, in Camillus, New York. Tom was a resident of New York until he moved to Nebraska in 1976 to work on the railroad based out of Alliance. While at the railroad he met his wife, Beth Ann Newkirk, whom he married on May 6, 1982. Together they raised his son Travis and daughter Tomi at their home northeast of Bridgeport. Tom worked as a conductor for the Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railroad from 1976 until his retirement in 2012.

Tom enjoyed playing baseball as a youth, and men’s softball, golf, and bowling as he got older. He cherished spending time with friends and his kids and grandchildren.

Tom is survived by his son Travis and wife Elisa Rodak of Bridgeport; Tomi and husband Max Childers of Potter; and his four grandchildren Madison, Bo, Phillip, and Walter.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, wife Beth Ann Rodak, brother Bob, and in-laws Douglas and Maxine Newkirk.
