After going 1 and 2 at the AMS tournament over the weekend, the St. Agnes volleyball team was back on the court Tuesday with home games against Harrison. Big scoring performances by Crusaders Aubrey Dudden and Kale Hulquist powered the Academy past the Warriors in the varsity matchup by scores 25 15 25 22. Dudden led the Academy offense with 9 points while Hulquist added 7 as the Crusaders improved to 4 and 5 for the season. St. Agnes also got the win in the first game of the afternoon. In the JV contest, SA took down Sioux County in 2 sets 25 14 25 15.
An ace serve by Alliance’s Quinn Robertson gave the hosts an early lead. Tied at 3, St. Agnes received 2 points by Alexis Shelmadine along with kills by Dudden and Delaney Jelinek to take the lead. Two more Shelmadine points ensued as the SA margin went to 7 to 3. The squads would then trade tallies with the Academy getting a pair of kills by Hulquist. Up 11 to 9, six consecutive points by Hulquist helped the Academy stay in control. Hulquist had three ace serves during the spree and a kill by Addison Intermill kept the momentum on the side of the Academy. Down the stretch, kills by Shelmadine and Jelinek gave SA game point at 24 to 15. Set 1 came to a close with a Jelinek tally and the Crusaders winning 25 to 15.
Set 2 began with the Warriors taking a 3 to 1 advantage. Kills by Robertson and Hulquist plus Dudden points followed as SA surge ahead 5 to 3. Strong plays by Intermill and Hulquist ensued and set 2 remain close. Down 15 to 11, the Academy got 2 quick points by Nala Reza to began a comeback. Dudden then went to service and ran off 5 in a row to give the hosts a lead at 19 to 16. Another kill by Hulquist at 19 to 17 helped the Academy extend their lead. The set came to a conclusion with the Lady Crusaders scoring the last 3 points. Robertson had a pair of ace serves that gave St. Agnes the win 25 to 22.

St. Agnes will take part in the Pan Handle Conference tournament on Saturday in Harrison. The Crusaders will play Hyannis in their opening match.
