A single-vehicle accident sent one person to Box Butte General Hospital on Monday afternoon to be treated for injuries.
According to Deputy J.D. Sutphen with the Box Butte County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the report of an accident on Madison Road between CR 60 and CR 61 at 2:45 p.m. Deputies arrived on scene at 2:51 p.m.
Sutphen explained that a 1997 Ford Expedition was eastbound on Madison Road. The road had washboards, according to the driver.
“He said it basically bounced him into the ditch, and there was a pretty good bank there between the road ditch and the field,” said Sutphen. “It just, basically, rolled onto the driver’s side of the vehicle.”
Sutphen explained that members of the Alliance Volunteer Fire Department had to extract the driver from the vehicle, after which, they transported the driver to BBGH. The driver was later released.
Sutphen noted that seatbelts were in use at the time of the accident and that no improper driving was suspected. He believes the vehicle sustained enough damage to be totaled.
The name of the driver was not released by the Box Butte County Sheriff’s Office.
