Alliance High School Unified bowlers fielded three of 32 teams at Saturday’s tournament at North Platte. They came up against North Platte, South Platte, Scottsbluff, Ogallala, Kearney and McCook.
Bowlers were divided into two flights based on practice scores. Alliance 1 and Alliance 2 bowled in A flight with Alliance 2 over North Platte 3 and South Platte 1 over Alliance 1 in the first round. Alliance 2 then out-pinned South Platte 1 and Scottsbluff 1 in the next two flights.
In a tough two out of three against McCook, Alliance 2 won the first game, and these two very well-matched teams bowled to a finish of McCook over Alliance 118-123 in the second game and 120-121 in the third.
Alliance 3 bowled in B flight and lost to Scottsbluff.
Bowlers continuing to the District competition are Ian Gomez, Jesika Bestol, Maddy Huss, Brexten Kimmel, Alex Montgomery, Javi Figueroa, Nicole Nepper, Daulton Mangas, Garrett Myers and Jerry Hampton.
The next bowling date for the Alliance team will be District competition at Gering on Tuesday, November 29, where Alliance is expected to go head-to-head with McCook once more. State championships will be on Monday, December 5 at Lincoln.
