On Friday night, the Alliance Arts Council will present an evening with Joey G at the AHS Performing Arts Center.
The show kicks off at 7 p.m., and will feature music performed by Joey Gulizia, who has played professionally since he was 10 years old. Gulizia performs mainly percussion and woodwinds, and has played concerts in all 50 of the United States and many other countries. He has also performed on over 30 cruises, gaining first-hand knowledge of the music from many cultures.
Throughout the week, Gulizia will be the artist in residence for the Alliance Arts Council, working with all of the district’s fourth graders. He started this undertaking on Tuesday as schools were closed on Monday. On Friday evening, these fourth grade students will have an opportunity to showcase their work with Gulizia on stage.
Throughout his career, Gulizia has been a featured artist with the Omaha Symphony, Nebraska Jazz Orchestra, Nebraska Brass and he has also toured with Mannheim Steamroller.
Gulizia began studying music at the age of six, and plays many instruments, many acquired from around the world. His work may be heard on many CDs, commercials and soundtracks.
On Friday, he will perform familiar tunes with a tropical twist.
