The Bridgeport Lady Bulldogs improved their record to 7-1 by winning the Alliance Holiday Tournament. They defeated Alliance 51-40 and Pine Bluffs 41-34 to win the tournament. The Lady Bulldogs from Alliance fall to 0-8 on the season with the loss. Ainsworth did not make the trip to Alliance due to weather concerns so unfortunately, Alliance was only able to play one game in the tournament.
Alliance and Bridgeport battled back and forth most of the game. The score was tied after the first period before Bridgeport opened up a 5-point halftime lead. The Alliance squad cut the margin to one by the end of the third period. Alliance lead for a time in the fourth and final period. The game was played very evenly as both teams made the same number of field goals on the same shooting percentage. The difference was found in the turnover department as Alliance committed 9 more turnovers than Bridgeport and at the foul line. Alliance would shoot 8 of 15 for 53% while Bridgeport shot 19 of 30 for 63%. The eleven more made free throws provided the margin of victory for Bridgeport.
Alliance would see quality time from several players. Jordan Hopp would lead the way with 9 points, 10 rebounds, 4 blocked shots and 5 steals falling one-point shy of the first double-double of the season. Leyton Schnell would play the best game of her young career at the point for the Bulldogs committing only one turnover in the entire game. Senior, Payton Weber would lead the team in scoring with 11 while adding 6 rebounds to the cause. Keeley Mazanec and Shelbee Burke would also contribute significantly to the Alliance effort with quality minutes off the bench.
The Bulldogs will next be in action on Saturday at Bayard. The Tigers currently stand at 3-3 on the season.
