Alliance Legionnaire Honored

Long time Alliance resident, Retired 1st Sgt. Larry McCracken, Nebraska Army National Guard was presented with The American Legion District 4 Work Horse Award at the District 4 Convention held in Gering on Saturday, March 7. This award is presented to a Legionnaire in District 4 who puts in extra time and effort for the American Legion promoting its programs and activities on all levels. The Traveling Trophy is kept for one year by the recipient. District 4 consists of 19 American Legion Posts located in western Nebraska, totaling just under 900 members.

Larry McCracken currently heads up Alliance’s American Legion Post 7 Honor and Color Guard teams, which conducts on the average 46 military funerals for veterans, as well as participates in numerous parades and other activities each year. He is also a past District 4 Commander.

McCracken has 35 continuous years of service in The American Legion.
