On February 15, 2025 at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to Box Butte General Hospital for a report of a male who had been assaulted.
Officers arrived and observed the victim to have sustained possible life-threatening injuries. The initial investigation revealed that the suspect drove the victim to the hospital after the assault. Witnesses stated that the suspect punched the victim repeatedly after a verbal argument escalated. The victim fell to the ground, striking his head on the pavement.
The suspect continued to strike the victim several times until a witness intervened. The suspect then drove the victim to the hospital and did not disclose that he had caused the injuries to the victim. The suspect was identified as Dreyson McCormick of Alliance, Nebraska, W/M (DOB 03/03/2004). Following interviews with all witnesses, McCormick was located and taken into custody without incident. The victim remains in critical condition.
