The Alliance Police Department, Alliance Fire Department and the Alliance Airport Maintenance Staff, responded to an emergency situation involving a single-engine aircraft experiencing power loss.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., the aircraft, which was reported to have four occupants including the pilot, and 60 pounds of fuel remaining, lost power and was in danger of shutting down. The FAA Denver Center and local authorities were notified and began coordinating a safe landing.
First responders were dispatched to the Alliance Airport for the aircraft’s emergency landing. Multiple units were deployed to the scene to assist with the situation.
The aircraft successfully landed without incident, and all units were cleared to return to regular operations by 8:40 AM. No injuries were reported, and the situation was resolved safely and efficiently.
Chief David Leavitt stated “Our role in this incident was to support the incident command established by the Alliance Fire Department. Our partnership, and ability to work together is an asset to our community.” Fire Chief Troy Shoemaker and Airport Manager Lynn Placek stated that the safety of the citizens is their top priority and were both glad that the incident concluded without any harm to the pilot or the public.
