The Alliance Police Department recently released a new video on social media, detailing their effort to hunt down drug dealers in the city of Alliance and offering resources to people addicted to drugs.
“We’re all working together to stop drug dealers and to provide support and recovery for our friends and loved ones who are suffering from chemical dependency,” said Chief Philip Lukens. “We as a community are united. We will not tolerate drug dealers.”
Lukens offered a warning to drug dealers in Alliance.
“To the drug dealers, I want to say, we will hunt you down and we will stop you,” Lukens said.
Lukens invited people to reach out to the Alliance Police Department to provide tips about suspected drug activity. The video, which can be found on the Alliance Police Department Facebook page, showed photos taken at the scene of drug busts, as well as body cam footage taken during those busts.
Lukens emphasized that resources are available to those suffering from addiction.
“To the people who have your friends and family that may be addicted to a chemical, we want you to know we have support, and we will provide support in every way possible from AA counselors, to counselors from the churches and other licensed counselors, and people who are willing to help them get out of that trap,” said Lukens. “We’re here.”
One of the things Lukens noted in the video is that people may turn in drugs at the police department and not face charges.
“In fact, if you have a friend who has drugs and paraphernalia, and you don’t know what to do with it, I’m telling you, you can bring it to the police department,” Lukens said. “We will dispose of it, no questions asked. Nobody gets charged. We are doing this just to help our community members get even more healthy.”
Lukens emphasized the goal of working together is to eliminate the demand for drugs in the community.
