APD Investigates Murder/Suicide

The Alliance Police Department is investigating the details of a murder/suicide that occurred in Alliance last Thursday morning.

According to APD Chief David Leavitt, Alliance Public Safety Dispatchers received a report that a female had been shot at 708 Big Horn Avenue in Alliance. The 911 call came in at approximately 11:10 a.m.

“Officers with the Alliance Police Department and Box Butte County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene within three minutes. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim, deceased outside the residence, and a male nearby suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The male was transported to Box Butte General Hospital with life-threatening injuries,” Leavitt said in a press release.

Leavitt said the initial investigation indicates that the female was shot by the male, and that the male shot himself. The male was flown to Scottsbluff, and he died shortly thereafter.
