The Alliance Police Department is investigating a string of vehicle thefts that occurred within the past week.
According to a press release issued on Tuesday, four vehicles were stolen, including a 199 Chevrolet Blazer, which was taken on June 15, a 1997 Dodge Dakota, taken on June 18, a 2019 Doolittle Cargo trailer and a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu, which were both taken on June 20. So far the vehicles, with the exception of the trailer, have been recovered. Each of the vehicles had keys inside.
Chief Philip Lukens reminds people to take steps to protect themselves, including to lock vehicles and remove the keys from inside, make sure trailers have hitch locks or boots, and to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.
Lukens said law enforcement is working hard to investigate the thefts, warning those responsible to turn themselves in.
“I appreciate all our community working together to make sure this stops,” said Lukens. “It is everyone’s responsibility to prevent crime in our community. Officers have investigated the recovered vehicles to include swabbing for DNA. I highly encourage the individuals involved to get in front of this and reach out to police. We won’t allow this trend to continue in our city.”
