On September 19, 2024, at approximately 9:15 p.m., the Alliance Police Department responded to a report of a firearm at the Alliance High School football game. School Resource Officer Sherlock was alerted by Alliance Dispatcher, Angel Trejo, who provided information that a student was in possession of a firearm in the stadium bleachers.
SRO Sherlock immediately located the individual in the top-left section of the bleachers. During the detention process, a black handgun fell from the suspect’s waistband. The firearm was secured without incident with the assistance of Middle School Vice Principal Chris Seebohm. The firearm was later identified as a black .177 Daisy Powerline CO2 gun.
The juvenile was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Alliance Police Department for processing.
No injuries were reported, and the situation was resolved swiftly to ensure the safety of all attendees.
The Alliance Police Department commends the quick actions of those who reported the situation and would like to remind the public that their vigilance plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe community.
Alliance Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Troy Unzicker released the following statement:
“Thank you to our SRO Officer Sherlock and our administrator Mr. Seebohm for their quick actions to maintain the safety of all involved. Thank you to those who reported in violation. Alliance Public Schools will take all steps available to insure your children are safe. The maximum school discipline penalty for a firearm or other dangerous weapon violation is a one calendar year expulsion,” Unzicker said.
