APD Secures Conviction in May 2024 Assault Case

The Alliance Police Department is pleased to announce the conviction and sentencing of Gary Shott, who was involved in a violent assault in May 2024. During the incident, Shott attacked a victim with a katana sword, causing serious bodily injury.

Following the assault, the Alliance Police Department launched an extensive investigation, dedicating countless hours to ensure justice was served. As part of the investigation, a search warrant was executed at the residence where the assault occurred. Officers recovered a significant amount of DNA evidence, which was sent to the Nebraska State Crime Lab for analysis.

The evidence gathered through this meticulous process led to the arrest of Shott, who faced multiple felony charges related to the assault. In the legal proceedings that followed, Shott was convicted and sentenced to 6 to 8 years in prison for his actions.
