The Alliance Public Schools Foundation is proud to announce that Frank Tolstedt has been selected as its 2023 Wall of Fame Recipient.
Frank is a 1953 graduate of Alliance High School and a 1970 graduate of the Colorado School of Banking. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1954 – 1956 before returning to Alliance. He managed the East 3rd Texaco Station and then the newly built Sunset Motel.
In 1960 Frank was recruited to join the Abbott Bank group and spent the rest of his professional career in banking. He was the Executive Vice President of the Abbott Bank in Valentine and the President of the Abbott Bank in Gordon before moving back to Alliance. He was the President of the Abbott Bank Group, encompassing banks in eleven different locations throughout the panhandle, until 1995. At that time he served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Western Nebraska National Bank and Business Development Officer for Wells Fargo before retiring.
Frank has always taken an active role in numerous service organizations within the different communities that he has called home. Locally he was involved with the Kiwanis, American Legion, & Fraternal Order of Eagles. Box Butte Development Corporation & the Alliance Development Corporation. He is a Master Mason, Arcana Lodge, 32 Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and a member of the Shrine Club. He is a member of the Darold A Newblom Foundation and the UNMC Board of Counselors. He was the President of the Nebraska Bankers Association, and a Nebraska Diplomat. He and his wife are members of the Alliance Presbyterian Church, where he is a church Elder and a Deacon in Alliance, Gordon & Valentine.
One of the things Frank is very well known for is his dedication to Carnegie Arts Center. He has worked tirelessly from its inception and throughout its ongoing success. In addition he has served as the Chairman of their Endowment Fund.
Frank is married to JoAnne Tolstedt, they have two children, two grandchildren and two great granddaughters.
