Alliance area APA poolplayers Tony Gonzalez and Carter Vath came up just short of advancing to the American Poolplayers Association (APA) Poolplayer Championships in Las Vegas after falling in the finals of their respective brackets at the Western Nebraska APA Singles Regional Championships held recently in McCook.
Both players earned a cash prize for their second-place finish.
The 8-Ball and 9-Ball Singles Regional events had over 106 players eligible to compete, with the top nine earning a spot in the Vegas Championships.
Players that advance to the Singles Championship events in Vegas compete with others at or near their own skill level, and for a share of over $700,000 in cash and prizes.
Players also enjoy a generous travel allowance, paid entry fees/greens fees and complimentary lodging at Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino, site of the APA Championships.
