The second annual Alliance Community-Wide Garage Sale, organized by the Alliance Times-Herald, is set to take place on June 4, June 5 and June 6, and people have one last opportunity to advertise their sale on the official map that will be published on June 1.
“Last year was the first time we organized the community-wide garage sale, and I would say it generated a lot of interest,” said Shaun Friedrichsen, ATH Co-Publisher. “We had people contacting us right up to the deadline to have their sales advertised and to get their stars on the map. The Alliance Times-Herald even hosted a garage sale last year, and the response was incredible. I would encourage people to take part in this annual opportunity.”
People who want to have their sales listed on the official community-wide garage sale map have until Friday, May 27 at noon to contact the Alliance Times-Herald. The ads, which feature a listing, as well as a star on the map, cost $5 for 30 words and a photo, or $5 for 60 words without a photo.
“While we aren’t planning to host a garage sale at the Alliance Times-Herald during the community-wide garage sale, I think last year we saw a huge benefit from having our location listed on the map,” said Friedrichsen.
Kathryn Kellar, ATH Co-Publisher, decided to organize the community-wide garage sale as a way to bring the community closer together, and to help the local economy.
“The garage sale weekend is an opportunity for residents to come together and interact with their neighbors. It’s a good opportunity, not only for those wishing to clean out unused items, but also for those looking to get out and hunt for deals. The idea behind this service project is to bring the community together,” Kellar said.
