After a year hiatus due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the Alliance Volunteer Fire Department celebrated Bosses Night, recognizing many successes over the past year.
AVFD Chief Troy Shoemaker said seeing the event return was positive for the department.
“It went really well for having a year off,” said Shoemaker. “With the COVID pandemic, we didn’t have it in 2021. It went as good as expected.”
Those who were recognized during the event include Elijah Budd, who received the Rookie of the Year Award, Laura Shoemaker, who received the Veteran of the Year Award, and Milt and Joann Strang, who were honored with the Bosses of the Year Award.
Shoemaker said that he has attended other similar events recently, noting that this year’s Bosses Night was a large success in terms of rebounding from the hiatus compared to the other events. He noted that the event was well attended.
“We had a pretty good crowd, and they seemed to enjoy the social event,” Shoemaker said.
