The Alliance Volunteer Fire Department took quick action on Friday afternoon at approximately 1:38 p.m., after a trailer fire was reported on Highway 387, just south of the Box Butte County line. AVFD Chief Troy Shoemaker explained that the vehicle lost the air to the trailer and the brake set, which resulted in overheating of the hub. He said that they took a line off the truck and applied water to the rear axle of the trailer until it was cool. Shoemaker said that they sent one engine with four people to the scene.
