In picking up their first win of the season the Alliance boy’s basketball team had four players in double figurers. Lead by 20 points by Sophomore Espen Lanik the Bulldogs defeated Torrington Tuesday night 67 to 47 in a contest played in Alliance. Alliance led throughout the game and went to 1 and 3 on the year. Senior Landon Crowe went for a double double for the Dogs by adding 13 points and 10 rebounds. Also in scoring in double figurers were Tristen Timbers who scored 12 and Seth Meyring who added 10. Earlier in the evening down at the Alliance Middle School the Bulldogs also won the JV match 52 to 38.
The first 5 points of the game went to the guests as the Blazers raced to a five to zero lead. A trey by Timbers and a bucket by Crowe would then knot the game midway through the opening period. Later in the quarter the Dogs surged ahead thanks to scores by Timbers and Meyring. The first came to a close with Lanik three and a three point play by the Bulldog lefty. End of the first saw Alliance up 15 to 8. Once again the Blazers came out strong at the start of a period. Torrington scored the first 5 points in the second that sliced their deficit to 15 to 13. Baskets by Crowe and Jonah Amill kept the hosts ahead with 4 minutes left in the half. A Meyring bucket plus free throws by Amill and Crowe gave Alliance a little breathing room. Another three ball by Lanik and an old fashion 3 point play by Crowe helped the Bulldogs increase their margin to 30 to 19. The half came to a close with a Blazer score and a hoop by Lanik. Half time score was Alliance 32 Torrington 21.
Alliance would keep their momentum going in the early stages of period three. Two free throws by Filippo Bandera along with baskets by Timbers and Lanik put the Dogs up 38 to 23. At the four minutes mark the hosts would get points by Amill, Meyring, and Crowe to push their lead to 44 to 25. The teams would then trade scores to end the period with Alliance getting baskets by Crowe and Lanik. Heading to the fourth AHS was in charge, leading 48 to 29. Play was even in the early moments of the fourth. Two Blazers buckets plus a three pointer gave the guests hope as the Alliance advantage was cut to 14. The Dogs answered back with points by Timbers and Amill to keep Alliance ahead. At the six minute mark free throws by Bandera and Timbers plus another Lanik trey gave AHS a lead at 59 to 39. Torrington would score the game’s next three points but would get no closer. Up 17, points by Bulldog Meyring, Lanik, and Lexton Salcido put the game out of reach. Final Alliance 67 Torrington 47

Scoring for Alliance was Lanik who finished with 20 while Crowe added 13. Contributing 12 was Timbers while scoring 10 was Meyring. Amill had a nice night coming off the Bulldog bench with 7 points while Bandera scored 3 and Salcido had 2.
