Barbara Joanne Westlake, 82, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021 at Monument Health in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Barbara was born July 3, 1938 in Alliance, Nebraska to Edward and Della (Dempsey) Westlake.
After the death of her parents, Barbara moved to Sandhills Assisted Living. She resided there for the past 17 years. She was quite proud of the fact she was the longest residing resident. Barbara spent many hours at the Alliance Public Library. She would walk there every day rain or shine.
Every Sunday afternoon, she went to the movies. Special thanks to the many volunteers who provided rides for her. If you ever wanted to know any trivia about any soap opera stars, movie stars, or any other Hollywood gossip, Barbara could tell you.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, and her Step-father, Robert Woods. Barbara is survived by her cousin and guardian, Kathy Kampbell. She is also survived by several other cousins.
Graveside services will be held Monday, June 7, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Alliance Cemetery. Pastor Tim Stadem of St. John’s United Lutheran Church will officiate.
Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
