Highly ranked Bridgeport flexed its muscles Saturday night in a home game against the Lady Bulldogs of Alliance. The undefeated Dogs downed the Lady guests from Alliance 56 to 29. With the loss Alliance now sees its record drop to 4 and 7. The Dogs have dropped their last 3 contests.
Both teams would enjoy the lead in the opening moments of the ball game. An old fashion 3 point play by Alliance’s Jaelynne Clarke put the Dogs up 3 to 0 just minutes into the game. Bridgeport answered with a three that tied it at 3 all. A free throw by CC Hudson a bucket by Clarke gave Alliance again a 3 point lead later in the period. The hometown Dogs responded with 3 free throws, another trey, and a 2 pointer to surge ahead11 to 7 midway thru the first quarter. A score by Hudson would stop the Bridgeport run but the hosts ended the period with 11 straight to close the period ahead 22 to 9. Bridgeport would win the second as well. The Bulldogs would outscore Alliance 14 to 8 in period #2. The stanza would begin with a free throw by Clarke and a two pointer by Hudson that sliced the Alliance margin to 10 at 22 to 12. It would be as close as the guests would get. B Port stormed back with a 10 to 0 run that put Alliance down 32 to 12 with under 2 minutes left in the half. Another Hudson bucket and a three ball by Clarke would give the Bulldogs hope in the final minutes but the half came to a finish with 4 more Bridgeport points. At half Alliance was down 36 to 17.
Turnovers would plague the Alliance comeback in the third. The visitors committed 9 in the period as Bridgeport full court constant pressure made things difficult. A three pointer by Alliance’s Regan Braun begin the scoring the quarter. Bridgeport came back with 3 straight scores that put the score at 42 to 20. Four more points by Clarke would account for the rest of Alliance’s third period scoring and the quarter with Bridgeport ahead 49 to 24. Alliance could muster only five fourth period points thanks to free throws by Hudson, Macey Seebohm, and Giselle Gonzalez. Bridgeport tallied 7 fourth period points and went on for the 56 to 29 win.
