Box Butte General Hospital (BBGH) and the Box Butte Health Foundation (BBHF) would like to announce and congratulate the 2024-25 scholarship recipients.
The high school recipients of the BBGH scholarship include:
Regan Braun – Regan plans on attending the University of Nebraska – Kearney (UNK) or Black Hills State University (BSU) following her high school graduation. She plans to obtain a degree in nursing and pursue a career in the healthcare field.
Kallie Bridge – Kallie will be attending the University of Nebraska – Lincoln (UNL) and plans on studying nutrition and health sciences. She has the goal of becoming a clinical dietitian.
Jaelynne Clark – Jaelynne is planning on attending Des Moine Area Community College (DMACC) to obtain her nursing prerequisites and play for the DMACC volleyball team. Ultimately, she would like to become a labor and delivery and neonatal intensive care (NICU) nurse.
Dax Powell – Dax plans on attending Peru State College and receive his bachelor’s degree in general science with a minor in Biology or Chemistry. Following graduating from Peru, Dax would like to attend the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) and receive a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. He would like to return to the Panhandle after completing his education.
Carlie Schneider – Carlie will be attending Chadron State College (CSC) to study pre-medicine. Following CSC, she wants to attend UNMC in Omaha. Someday she would like to return to Alliance and practice as a pediatrician.
The college recipients of the BBGH scholarship include:
Kylie Casados – Kylie has been a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) since she was 16 years old. She is currently a CNA at BBGH. Starting in the fall, she will be starting the LPN program at Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC). Her great grandmother was an LPN, and she says she heard many stories of how great she was. Kylie wants to strive to be just as good as her great grandmother was.
Madison Hiemstra – Madison plans to attend the Advanced Placement LPN to RN Associate Degree program at WNCC. She is looking forward to advancing her nursing career and contribute to the community and BBGH in the future.
Kelsey Horton – Kelsey is currently attending UNMC. Following graduation, she plans to work in a rural emergency department of a hospital before returning to school to get her CRNA.
Cydney Strotheide – Cydney is currently a student registered anesthetist at Bryan College of Health Sciences. She will graduate as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in May 2026. She hopes to return to the BBGH service area to work following graduation. One day, she would love to be part of the Rural Providers committee with the Nebraska Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
Connor Blumenthal – Conner is currently in the Mental Health Practitioner’s graduate program at CSC. He someday wants to become a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner for adults and geriatrics and help people find purpose and meaning in life.
The recipients of the BBHF scholarship are:
Lynette Hillyer – Lynette is attending Western Governors University and is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration. She hopes to learn new techniques and skills that will help her in her current role at BBGH. Long term, she hopes to further her education and obtain a master’s degree in healthcare administration.
Riley Lawrence – In the fall, Riley will be attending UNMC – Kearney to work toward her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her long-term goal is to become a certified NICU nurse.
Sydney Allard – Sydney is currently enrolled in Laramie County Community College’s accelerated Dental Hygiene program. After graduating with her Associates of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene in 2025, she plans on returning to a rural area to give back to a small community. Her goal as a dental hygienist is to help patients improve and maintain their oral health by promoting healthy habits.
Regan Lambert – Regan will be attending her final year of nursing school at UNMC. After graduating in the spring of 2025, she hopes to become an infusion or surgery nurse, as she has fallen in love with those departments. She is excited for the last chapter of her college career.
Abigail Burri – Abigail will be attending school at Southeast Community College in the Radiologic Technology Program. Her goal is to graduate in December 2025, with her Associates of Applied Science.
