Box Butte General Hospital (BBGH) is excited to announce the addition of Gabriel (Gabe) Behling, MHA to the leadership team as Chief Operations Officer. His experience and expertise will help move BBGH’s mission to lead and innovate in healthcare delivery and community wellness forward.
Behling has nineteen years of experience guiding teams and leading projects across healthcare and energy sectors. Behling was born and raised in the rural canyonlands of Utah. He attended Weber State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration. Shortly before graduation, Behling began his healthcare career with Intermountain Healthcare. After seven years with Intermountain Healthcare, he and his family relocated to eastern Utah to be closer to family and pursue career opportunities within the energy sector.
After nine years in the energy sector, Behling and his family chased a dream of living in the Midwest and a desire to re-enter the healthcare sector. They relocated to Nebraska and Behling became Great Plains Health’s Director of Support Services. During this time, Behling attended the University of Minnesota, earning a Master of Healthcare Administration.
Behling has a deep passion for rural healthcare and creating access for underserved communities. Box Butte General Hospital’s geographical location and care model intrigued him.
Behling is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), where he is also the Vice Chair of the Nebraska chapter board.
When he’s not working, Behling enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys. He also enjoys the outdoors, golf, upland game hunting, fly fishing, and horse racing.
