Box Butte General Hospital (BBGH) is proud to welcome Occupational Therapist Carli Turek, MOT, OTR/L!
Carli, a Box Butte County native raised in Hemingford, has been an active member of the BBGH team since she was in high school. In 2016, she spent the summer interning at the hospital. She then went on to shadow the occupational therapists here in 2019, which was when she discovered being an OT was her calling.
While an OT student at Nebraska Methodist College, Carli returned to BBGH in 2023 for her fieldwork placement.
“BBGH is where I found out that I wanted to be an OT, so it holds a special place in my heart,” she said. “I have been given so many opportunities to learn from this hospital since high school and have appreciated every opportunity that I have been given. I chose BBGH because I was wanting to come back to Box Butte County to work and give back to the community I grew up in.”
As an occupational therapist, Carli wants to ensure that patients have the ability to pursue occupations that allow them to have quality of life and overall wellness.
“My philosophy for OT is that every person has the potential to engage in occupations that promote maximum function and quality of life,” she said. “Occupations are important to health promotion and wellness.”
Outside of work, Carli enjoys seeing family and friends, going to concerts, traveling, reading, hanging out at the lake, walking her dog, and cheering on the Huskers.
“I look forward to working with patients and giving back to my community,” she added. “I am excited to work with the team in the Rehab Center and getting to start my OT career at the place where I found OT.”
