Big Effort by Moseman Helps Cats to Sixth Place Finish at Bayard

Bayard High School hosted a junior high track meet on Monday, April 14. Hemingford attended the meet along with 16 other schools. Winning the boy’s team title was Mitchell who outdistanced second place Ogallala 65 to 64. The Bobcat boy’s team had a nice day, ending with 41 points which was good for sixth overall. Top performer for the Cats was eighth grade Fletcher Moseman who placed second in the mile, third in the 800, and was part of the winning 2 mile relay team. Other members included: Andrew Miller, James Lanier, and Zane Frost. Top point getter for the girls was Ogallala who won the team title with 84 points. Torrington was second with 66 points. The Hemingford girls finished with 5 points and came in fourteenth. Leading the Cats in scoring was 8th grader Teagan Yale who was fourth in the pole vault. The meet consisted of just one division.

“After a quick turnaround from Saturday, the JH T&F team was back at it Monday in some breezy conditions. Many tried some new events and many relays were put together. Was proud of how our kids competed,” said Coach Joshua Dean.

-Andrew Miller, Zane Frost, Gus Butler, James Lanier now #10 in the 4x400m Relay, passing a team from 2001.

-Andrew Miller now #8 in the 100m Hurdles, passing Cooper Galles and James Lanier.

-Andrew Miller now tied for #7 in the Pole Vault with Jacob Clouse, passing Connor Butler.

-Emerson Horstman now tied for #4 in the Pole Vault with Catherine Bryner, Jori Stewart, Josie Stewart, Karly Ragsdale, Teagan Yale, passing Tehya Buser, Evah Collins.

-Andrew Miller, Fletcher Moseman, James Lanier, Zane Frost now #1 in the 4x800m Relay, passing a team from 2022, 2024, 2023.

On Thursday, Hemingford will travel to Morrill to compete in the Western Trails conference meet. This event will also included the Western Trails High School teams.
