Big First Quarter Lifts North Platte Past Lady Bulldogs

A 21 point first period by the visiting Bulldogs from North Platte was too much to overcome for the Alliance Bulldogs in the home opener for the Lady Bulldogs. North Platte seam rolled to an early double figure lead and cruised to a 52 to 24 win. Once again Alliance battled through foul trouble and turnovers but never quit. With the loss Alliance falls to 0 and 2 on the year. North Platte also won the JV contest which was played earlier in the evening.

Things started out well for Alliance. Two free throws by Ciara Hudson plus a three by Bulldog Regan Braun helped Alliance gain an early 5 to 2 lead. North Platte then took over. The guest hit 3 three pointers and a free throw to move ahead 16 to 5 at the end of the period. Another score by Hudson sliced the margin to 11 but it was followed 6 straight points by the Platters. Alliance would get free throws by Macey Seebohm and another basket by Hudson to close the half. After 16 minutes of play North Platte was up 27 to 12.

Eight quick points by the visitors began the second half. A pair of free throws by Hudson stopped the run and at the 4 minute mark of the third Alliance was down 35 to14. Two more North Platte hoops increase their lead in the final moments of the period. The quarter finished with a Seebohm bucket and Alliance behind 39 to 16. Play was even in the opening minutes of the final period with another Hudson’s basket and a trey by Alliance’s Haylie Winter which put the score at 44 to 21.
