A woman with ties to Box Butte County was apprehended in Scottsbluff after escaping from the Community Corrections Center in Lincoln in July.
Ruby Bingham, who was serving time at the Community Corrections Center in Lincoln after being convicted of possession of a controlled substance, a class 4 felony, in Scotts Bluff County, left her work location in downtown Lincoln on July 9.
A video showed her getting into a vehicle with two other individuals. The vehicle was seen driving away from the area around the State Capitol.
According to court records, on Aug. 18, officers with the Scottsbluff Police Department received a tip that Bingham was staying in an abandoned trailer that she used to stay in.
When officers arrived on scene, they knocked on the front door and Miguel Tirado came to the door. Officers asked if anyone else was inside the residence, “and he stated several times no, there is not.”
Officers advised Tirado that if there was anyone else inside the residence, he would be taken to jail for harboring a fugitive. Tirado again responded that there was no one else there.
Officers searched the residence, and during the search they located Bingham behind a wall. In the court records officers noticed that, “this wood panel had nails used to hold it down to the other walls and it took an outside force to put on.”
Tirado was taken into custody for harboring a fugitive. He was charged with obstructing a peace officer, a class one misdemeanor, and, after pleading guilty, was sentenced to serve one year in jail, with credit for three days served.
Bingham was transported to Lancaster County on Sept. 2, where she is charged with escape when under arrest on felony charge, a class 3 felony.
In 2019 in Box Butte County, Bingham was convicted of possession of a controlled substance, a class 4 felony, and resisting arrest, a class one misdemeanor. She served time in prison for the charges from June 12, 2019 until she was discharged on July 13, 2020.
