Bobcat Relays Flourish at End of the Year Meet in Morrill

Fresh off a super showing at last week’s conference meet, the Hemingford junior high track teams were back in Morrill for their last meet of 2025. Seventeen schools took part in the day which had temperature around 70 for great track conditions. Bayard with 87 points won the boy’s division while Mitchell was second with 76 points. Hemingford tallied 53 points which was good for fourth. Niobrara County won the girl’s team race with71 points. Gordon-Rushville ended second with 64 points. The Lady Cats had 27 points and took ninth overall.

Hemingford shined in three relay events for the highlight of the day. In the boy’s 2 mile relay, the Cats were first with a time of 9:45. Team members included: Andrew Miller Fletcher Moseman James Lanier and Zane Frost. The Bobcats were also strong in the boy’s 400 relay, taking third. Two Cats took home silver medals. They were: Miller in the 800 and the 100 hurdles and Moseman in the mile. Top finisher for the girls were a second place finish in the 400 relay and third place finishes for Kamryn Haas in the 100 hurdles and Teagan Yale in the long jump. Along with Haas and Yale, Emerson Horstman and Taya Hruby were on the second place relay.

“Great weather for the last meet of our regular season for T&F. Proud of the way our kids competed. Over the season we saw a lot of PRs from our JH kids. They brought positive attitudes to practice. They were coachable. No doubt in my mind that we have several JH T&F kids that will make an impact in HS next year or come back as 8th graders ready to set new PRs. Many caught the competition bug during the season, and we can’t wait to see what that motivates them to do through the summer and then their fall and winter seasons next year! GUBN!” said Coach Joshua Dean.
