It will be a busy weekend as the Bobcats Beating Cancer will host a golf tournament at Chimney Rock Golf Course in Bayard on Saturday, with the funds from the event slated to help Hemingford alumni who are battling cancer.
Taryn Wood, Organizer and one of the five Bobcats Beating Cancer Committee Members, had the idea for the organization come to him in a dream.
“I woke up and felt like I needed to do something,” said Wood. “The community has been very supportive. Cancer has had such a big impact on this community.”
He established an account locally at the Hemingford Community Federal Credit Union, with a goal of offering funds that alumni battling cancer can request when they are in need of paying bills or buying groceries.
Other Committee Members include: Joni Jespersen, Jordan Haas, Alaina Schaneman and Debora Vogel.
