The Hemingford Golf team headed to Garden County on April 26, where they competed in the Garden County Invitational shooting a team score of 432.
“We had to make some changes to our team because of some absences, but we were able to get some other golfers some experience. I’m hoping we can use this tournament to learn from our mistakes. We’ve talked a bit about how to manage a golf course. Ultimately, I’m wanting our team to make the best decisions in order to eliminate some of our really high numbers. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to do that at Garden County,” said Coach Joe Collins.
Tegan Straub was the highlight of Garden County for the Bobcats, where he shot 17 strokes better than in his previous tournament.
“Tegan Straub was our bright spot for the day, as he shot 17 strokes better than his previous tournament. He is becoming more consistent in striking the ball, but still needs to continue to improve his mechanics to increase his power. If he continues to improve, however, he may see more tournament action in the future,” said Coach Joe Collins.
The following are the results for the Hemingford Boys Golf team:
Daren McConville – 102
Drew Varner – 102
Tegan Straub – 112
Ethan Specht – 116
Taren Hunter – 148
Team Score – 432
